One-day audition prep workshop in Atlanta
Build a repeatable audition process before the deadline arrives.
Compass Audition Prep Lab is a focused four-hour workshop for actors who want to strengthen how they prepare, make choices and adjust their work. Submit one film or television audition scene in advance. Eric reviews your material before the Lab, then you put the process into practice on camera.
Sunday, November 15
12:00 to 4:00 PM
Four focused hours in person at Compass Actor Services.
Inaugural Lab rate
$125
Maximum six actors. Register individually.
In person in Atlanta. Advance preparation required.
What your $125 includes
More than four hours in a room.
The work begins before the Lab. Eric reviews what you submit so the day can focus on how your preparation translates on camera and what happens when you make a specific adjustment.
Before the Lab
Advance review of your work
After registering, you will receive a brief Preparation Snapshot. Submit the completed Snapshot and one film or television audition scene at least 72 hours in advance. Eric reviews both before you arrive.
In the room
On-camera application
Work your scene, compare your intention with what is actually visible, receive a targeted adjustment and work again.
Your takeaway
A process you can reuse
Learn part of the Compass Core preparation process and leave with the full Compass Audition Prep Worksheet for future auditions.
Why this Lab exists
Do not wait for an audition to figure out how you prepare.
When the deadline is already pressing, there is very little room to examine your process. The Lab gives you a lower-pressure place to prepare material, test your choices on camera and build a working language for adjustments before the next real audition arrives.
01
Prepare with purpose.
Move beyond line learning and identify the choices that organize the scene.
02
See what the camera sees.
Compare what you intended with the behavior and story that are actually visible.
03
Make a playable adjustment.
Receive clear direction, make a practical change and test it immediately.
04
Learn from the room.
Observe how preparation and adjustment change the work for other actors too.
How the Lab works
Prepare. Apply. Observe. Adjust.
This is audition preparation, not paired scene study. Participants register individually and read for one another during the workshop.
1. Register
Reserve your individual seat through Acuity. The Lab is limited to six students.
2. Submit
Email one film or television audition scene and your Preparation Snapshot at least 72 hours before the Lab. You’ll receive the Snapshot after you sign up. It briefly shows how you currently prepare.
3. Work
Put your preparation on camera and identify what is working and what deserves attention.
4. Adjust
Apply targeted adjustments, work again and leave with a process you can continue using.
Before you arrive
Bring material you know well enough to work.
Your scene does not need to be fully memorized. You should be familiar enough with it that the Lab can begin with your choices rather than starting from scratch.
Your scene
Choose one film or television audition scene, ideally two to three pages, and bring two printed copies.
Your reader
Participants read for one another. A dedicated reader is not provided.
The camera
The camera is used for training and review. Finished footage is not included.
Advance materials
Your scene and completed Preparation Snapshot are due 72 hours before the workshop.
